Journey to the West (in Chinese, Xi You Ji), which is also translated as Adventures of the Monkey God by Arthur Waley, is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature, originally published anonymously in the 1590s during the Ming Dynasty. The TV series based on the novel span a period of 17 years, from 1982 to 1999, once it was played, it won nation-wide acceptance.
